Stereo System Upgrades For Cars and Trucks
Most people want to personalize their ride with stereo upgrades and the latest bling items. In this article we will discuss the latest options for upgrading your vehicle's sound system. The first thing to start off with is deciding where to put all the components. Many people will want the CD changer out of view. Simple sheet metal brackets can be made to mount it inside a console below the surface to where the console lid clears the unit and goes undetected from any one's view. The head unit with AM FM tuner can be installed behind the glove box lid using 20 gauge metal and bent to hold the unit which is standard size with a built in bracket system. To hide a sub woofer there are many places.
A good location is behind the rear seat up against the package tray where there is ample room to upgrade to a much larger speaker. A paper board mockup will allow you to know how big of an enclosure to purchase at your local supplier. Be sure the minimum air space required was met while holding it all in place. All major speakers MFG list their minimum air space requirements for any given speaker. You may have to modify the back of the rear seat a bit to allow the sub clearance and removing a wire or two will not make much difference in supporting your back. Another place is where you rest your feet in the front seat. The kick panels are an excellent place for the front speakers. You can angle them to still allow good foot room while the sound waves hit the opposite side passenger directly for optimum sound. When installing sound systems we always look for what the vehicle will offer for locations that allow different alternatives such as places to hide speakers and different sound box sizes depending on ones desires.
If you're looking for first row, front seat sound then a mid range front floor speaker where the floor is cut out to house 8 inch Dyn-Audio mid range speakers is the ticket. Pointing them directly at the front seat passenger's ear for max sound is the only way because they are directional speakers. Right under the dash is a great place to install Image Dynamic Horn speakers for highs/tweeters that offer super crisp vocals and the lead guitars will come to life. In effect it will sound like an entire band is sitting on the hood of the car with unreal clarity and 0 distortion detected by any humans ear. When building hi-level systems such as this high power is needed so the front speakers would be powered by a JL 450/4v2 amp for max output with 1 gauge power leads and crossovers with separate equalization installed. For subwoofers you need a lot of power such as 2-1000 watt JL amps to provide power for a qty of 6 -10 inch W6 JL drivers in the trunk. Image Dynamics EQ will allow complete adjusting to the system.
Installing an EPICENTER by Audio Control is a nice component that allows you to bring out more bass in older music then it originally had. It features A Dial Rotation. Your fuse block needs to be upgraded when you go this route to massive 1-0 wires and relays to keep everything powered up safely. Hiding wiring where carpet can cover over them and away from heat sources like exhaust systems is very important and a door step plate channel is an excellent way to run the wires front to back. We like Optima batteries to power everything as they are gel and have no acid residue. Yellow Red and or Blue top are built for marine use for extra reserve capacity. Keep in mind that you may have to upgrade the amps in your alternator and these are available at most auto parts stores. XM satellite radio is another nice touch. On projects where other components are taking up space you have to improvise.
To build a custom Sub Box take MDF Wood and cut out 6 MDF rings on a router to accept JL W6 speakers. Then mount/glue them in the right matching angles and you are then ready to start covering them. We take fleece and cover them tight using a staple gun then they are wrapped and ready for some fiberglass resin work. Mix up and coat them with resin saturating all materials to get a strong first layer to support thicker matting later.
You can then use a porter cable tool and buzz out the speaker sections. The next step is to tape it off to get ready for the outer cover. Wrap it much in the same way but use polyester cloth and tape the edges around the cars trunk perimeter. Then trim it out much in the same way and also cut out a shaped hole in the back section to allow the sound to come toward the front of the car, The trunk hinges get a U pad treatment that stays with the hinge and fits with a small gap when up, just behind it you can add a trim piece to finish it out.You will then want to sand it down and apply some hi build primer and you are almost done. Simply mount the speakers with T-nuts that have teeth which pull in to the MDF wood when tightened.

Parenting - Learn How to Teach Your Kids Discipline and Respect For You
One of the most difficult things that you will eventually have to do as a parent is argue with your child.
Often times any arguments with your children will become irrational, simply because they strive to take the arguments in that direction. Children are so much more persistent than adults when it comes to arguments. Often it seems like it would just be a heck of a lot easier to say "Yes" than to say "No" even when you know which one you ought to say.
However, this is not the solution. Instead, try the following techniques to teach your child both to respect you and your wishes as a parent, and to be more disciplined. In addition, he will learn the rational way to argue, and how to listen.
One more thing, remember that you're a model for your child. If you argue with your child and become irrational, or loud, or mean, then they're going to pick up on those exact same habits. So make sure that you're extra careful with what you say and how you say it.
Here are a few things that you should make sure that you do to set a good example for your child, while still conveying your own point:
#1 - Make sure that you make eye contact frequently while speaking with your child. This lets your child know that you see them as an equal, and it instills a sense of honesty into everything that you say, which will make your child much more likely to listen to you.
This keeps your child from feeling like you think yourself superior...Remember when you were a kid? Did it ever bother you that you thought your parents thought they were better than you? Well, your child feels the same way. By maintaining eye contact you help to diminish that feeling.
#2 - Make sure that you actually do pay attention to the things that your child is saying. Don't be doing something else while talking to them. I know that it can be sort of a hassle to always set down what you're doing when you and your child start to head towards an argument, but you want to make sure and teach your child how to listen, and the best way to do this is through example.
So, have a seat with your kids, talk with them, and make sure that you actually are paying attention to them.
#3 - Ask questions about what your child is saying. Often times children can say things that sound either irrational or that don't quite make sense the way that they said them. By asking questions to your child you're doing two things.
First, you're helping move the argument along, by asking your kid to further explain what they're saying, more often than not they will either see the holes in their own argument, or they will see where you might be coming from. The earlier your child learns this skill, the better.
Secondly, again, you're setting a good example. Asking questions is an essential listening skill, and one that they will need to be able to use for the rest of their lives.
Try putting these 3 tips into effect the next time you and your child start to get into a little verbal scuffle. You will begin to pave the way towards a better understanding, for them and for yourself, of how these arguments should really work.
Good luck parenting!

Intoduction to the Car Subwoofer
A subwoofer is the part of the audio speaker system in a home or auto system that reproduces the bass frequencies. Small speakers which are typically part of a small system will usually reproduce frequencies as low as 40 HZ particularly when the decibels rise above 100. A cone subwoofer will reproduce the bass tones from about 20 HZ down to 200 HZ, the point where the sound is as much vibration as tone.
The first known occurrence in a recording was the use of the subwoofer in "Pretzel" the Steely Dan album released after 1970 when the speakers were invented. The sound is actually produced by the drivers, which can range from 8" up to as large as 34". Typically drivers found in movie theaters, concerts, radio stations and live records in the 15 to 18 inch range. Part of the excitement of a live concert is the intense vibrations which emit from the enormous subwoofers.
A auto stereo system which comes from the factory usually does not include car audio subwoofers, aficionados of the hottest systems find they need to add aftermarket car stereo subwoofers.
INSTALLING CAR AUDIO SUBWOOFERS
It is common for subwoofers to be installed in the trunk of the car, since better sound quality is gained by separating the car subwoofers from the balance of the stereo system. The process for installing car stereo subwoofers is somewhat complicated, so it is recommended that you buy the subwoofer enclosures prefab. The first step is to remove the carpet or flooring material from the trunk and thoroughly clean the area. Apply sound deadening material such as Dynamat or Accumat to glue coated and cleaned metal of the trunk floor. Once the sound deadening material is in place, a roller will help to bond the two surfaces together, then replace the carpeting. Now it's time to place the subwoofer enclosure itself. Following the instructions for the amplifier, wire the car subwoofers into the two rear audio rear speakers.
It's wise to play around with the positioning of the subwoofer box before permanent installation is made to determine where the best sound results occur. The subwoofer boxes can face the front or rear of the automobile with different sounding results. Once you have made the decision as to where the subwoofer enclosure will be place, drill and mount the brackets in the correct place to hold the subwoofer box firmly in place.
HEARING LOSS
Some car audio subwoofers seem to be in competition to produce sound pressure levels that are dangerous to one's hearing, especially in the confines of the automobile. These cars with their sound pressure levels in the red-line area of permanent hearing loss are not able to produce good sound quality, but the quality is less important than sound pressure.
To enhance the vibratory effect of the stereo system, a new devices called subwoofer boxes which transmit vibrations when attached to furniture. These subwoofer enclosures provide the feel of the big subwoofers without attendant hearing loss.

High Power and Efficient Car Subwoofer
Car owners and manufactures often add the car subwoofers with the car audio system to enhance their performance and to take them to a new level or sound excellence. In fact the subwoofers are complete loudspeakers that are dedicated to reproducing bass audio frequencies. The frequencies range from 150Hz to as low as 20Hz depending on the taste and requirements of the user. They are called subwoofers since they are used for augmenting the low frequency performances of any of the main speakers.
A unique feature of the subwoofers is that they are constructed by mounting woofers one on another and enclosing them inside well-braced cover that is either made of plastic or wood. They are available in multiple designs and are widely used to enhance the performance of the car stereos of any type. Main designs are bass reflex, horn-loaded, band pass, and infinite battle types. Of course each of the types has its own pros and cons to deal with.
Broadly the subwoofers can be classified into two types. One of them is the passive subwoofers and the other is active subwoofer. Passive subwoofers consist of the subwoofer driver. The enclosures will be powered by an external amplifier. On the other hand the active subwoofers have an inbuilt amplifier in the subwoofer. Way back in the 1960s the first subwoofer was developed for providing the addition of bass response to the home stereo systems.
Sensurruound was added during the 1970s. Compact discs and cassettes added further technological excellence to the subwoofers during the 1980s. DVDs arrived in the 1990s and with them came up the LFE or low frequency channels. That was the time when the subwoofers started gaining popularity for home videos and car stereos. It turned out to be the universally accepted sound reinforcement system by the time the new millennium arrived on the scene.
Numerous qualitative subwoofers that are used for the car audio and stereos are available in the market today. Recently the Infinity Systems, one of the units of Harman International Industries announced their new line of subwoofers. Many other leading brands and companies are following suit. Advantage of the modern day improved subwoofers is the industrial designs and the value price added to them. Today the subwoofers use large-roll surrounds, polypropylene cones as well as progressive spiders in them. In result they have gained optimal control of the sound system and made the bash sound effects free from distortions and also prevents sound from breaking down while delivered. The progressive spider applies increased force with the cone travel approaching its limits. In result the subwoofer gains much greater durability. Large roll surroundings help the cone edge maximum suspension eliminating any rattling that travels up the edge. Polypropylene cone is stiff despite being lightweight and thus provides an excellent balance of efficiency with power handling.
