Noise - Pollutants, Remedies, and Trivia

Noise per se is not harmful; in fact, it is common in places where there are crowds and each person present wants to be noticed or heard. In the market, noise is to be expected since every merchant wants to attract the buyer's attention. In sports arenas, where supporters cheer and shout their moral support for their favorite team or player. You can even add the noise of jeers hurled by hecklers and sore fans. In schools, especially when the teacher is not around to rap their sticks on the table and impose authority for them to keep their voices down. You're not supposed to complain about noise if you stay in these places for some time.

Noise becomes irritating if you're in the comfort of your home and an endless drone of low flying airplanes will pass overhead. It causes your blood pressure to rise since the occurrence can shake your walls and rattle you window panes. On top of that, you have read so many incidents about how accidents can happen; that by some stroke of misfortune any one of these planes may accidentally use your roof as landing pads.

Noise becomes a form of pollution if you're living in the city and the traffic could bring a lot of cars honking simultaneously as their way of trying to protest the long hours they have been waiting in queue. Add the multitudes of pedestrians who'd rather walk than wait it out in the city traffic, most of them talking simultaneously, enough to create a din. Noise in the city can disrupt your sleep, invade your privacy when you find it hard to carry on with a simple conversation or create an unpleasant atmosphere for work done at home.

If you live in the suburbs, you might think that noise pollution can't touch you here since the neighborhood are mostly residential properties and only a few cars pass by. That's possible, if your neighbors are aware that the use of lawn mowers and leaf blowers is capable of making intrusive and disruptive noise that can get into your nerves.

Even the workplace can be vulnerable to noise if the office interior was not properly equipped with sound proofing materials or acoustics. Factories and its factory lines with the constant whirring sounds can deafen your ear if you get a daily dose of it as a worker.

Noise pollution is an environmental issue if it is invasive and disruptive causing negative effects on health and productivity.

Remedies for Noise Pollution

Homes located in areas near airports, factories and cities adapt their homes against noise by adding noise barrier and sound absorption materials such as barrier walls, acoustical foam, custom sound enclosures, pipe wrap, acoustical doors, windows and ceiling tiles as well as double paned windows.
Offices use a "white noise" machine which helps cover up unwanted and intrusive noises to diminish the sounds that can disrupt the work in an area. The machine produces a casual and non-directional sound that comes off as harmonious enough to cover whatever unwanted noise is spreading through in the work place.

Trivia: A Unique Type of Noise Pollution

In the Philippines, people love to while away their time by singing along with their karaoke or videoke machines. It is quite common among the neighborhood in slum areas to set the decibels of their machines at several notches over and above than that of their neighbor's. Imagine a place where houses with but single pieces of ply-woods to separate them, will have people singing at the top of their voices using microphones and accompanied by blaring sound machines with high powered speakers to boot.

Imagine these people finding themselves uplifted from their slum origins through the hard work of their overseas relative and are now residing in quiet residential neighborhoods. The more reason they have to enjoy life and sing to their heart's content and the neighbors have no recourse but to put ear plugs in their ears.

Car Woofers - Important Features of Car Audio

There are many audio systems which are used in cars have usually small speakers. These small speakers are unable to produce sounds of very low frequency. So, if you wish that your system produces better sounds and also generates those that have very small frequencies then you just need sub woofers with your audio system. These allow more depth and able to pick up low frequency as well.

In general, standard woofers are 10 to 12 inches bigger and mostly installed in trunk of the car. Some of these may be up to 34 inches big as well. There are small woofers, which are also available in the market with quality sound systems, and they may be as small as 4 inches. It is important to remember here that bigger woofers are able to carry low frequencies more efficiently and an amplifier is essential to run a woofer effectively.

There are different shapes and designs, which are easily available in the market. However, nowadays with technology and advancement, some stylish and innovative designs are also available. Those people, who give preference to their aesthetics, love to adopt such items. You will find various new shapes that are available in the market include triangular, square and hexagonal woofers. However, these are usually bigger and they require more space.

If you give little consideration while purchasing woofers, they can easily match to your car's interior. Moreover, you can also make your own system that is custom-made item. In market, there are several pre-made audio systems, which are available easily at affordable prices. Here you should remember that if you want to buy a bigger one, you have to pay greater amount. There are many professionals who recommend that smaller items usually sealed in enclosures are the best choice while buying the car audio system.

Beginner's Guide to Car Audio Installation - DIY

Speaker Positioning

Speaker installation is very critical for performance. Whether you spent $1000 or $10,000 on a set of speakers, if they are not properly installed, they would not sound as they should. Even though it may seem that the best position for most speakers are in the stock housing's that came with the car e.g. on the door panel near your feet, this is just not so. You would see why such positions are still used however along with alternative solutions such as center channels for 5.1 dolby, LCD screen, in-dash DVD players. There are many factors that need to be considered in placing the speakers in the correct position.

Distance

The first thing to consider is distance. If the left speaker is only a couple feet away from your ears, while the right speaker is several feet away from you, then the sound will arrive at different times giving you poor sound. Since the left speaker is closer, it sounds louder. The best solution is to figure out a location where the difference between the distance of the right speaker to your ears and left speaker (also known as path length difference), are minimal. This is where kick panels become the preferred location.

Multiple Speaker Placement

If you have a system with two or more speakers per side, you need to try out different locations to obtain the best possible sound in your car. If you have a 2-way system with a tweeter and sub per side. The subs are mounted in the stock location at the bottom of the door. The tweeters are mounted high up on the front corner of the door panel. From the driver's seat, you can see that there are 4 speakers all aimed towards different orientations and all at a different distance to your ears. This interaction of sound waves at different frequencies arriving at your ears at different times seldom sounds good. The best thing to do is to position the woofer and tweeter on each side as close as possible to each other. This is also why kick panels are used so much these days. Professional installers do use some tricks such as inverting the tweeters' polarity when mounted for example on top of the dash while the woofers are low. Achieving good sound with unconventional mounting schemes is very, very hard and is only achieved after plenty of time has been spent trying different configurations.

Aiming

Our ears can distinguish the direction of sound more easily at higher frequencies. This means that aiming the mids, and most importantly, tweeters towards your ears play a critical role in sound imaging. Midbases are not so critical, but should be also aimed towards the listener's ears if possible. To figure out the best aiming angle involves many hours -even days- of work. To start, try to aim the speakers towards the center of the car. Play around with different angles until you obtain the best sounding position. Subwoofers should be mounted up front for best sound. Since this is not possible in most cars, mounting subs in the back is not such a bad thing, since most people can't distinguish where bass comes from. If you have good midbases going down to 60 Hz or less and subs picking up the signal below 60 Hz, then the bass will seem to come from the front.

Enclosures

Subwoofers need a properly designed enclosure to give top performance. Midbases and mids also do sound much better if they are installed in enclosures. The best sounding and easier to build enclosure type for midbases and mids is sealed.

Mounting Speakers

If you are using speakers that fit into the stock location, make sure there are no spaces or holes. Sometimes building a wood or fiberglass baffle helps reduce holes and gives you much better sound. Always be careful when using power tools around speakers. Holes in speakers usually are not covered by the warranty. For unconventional speaker locations, sometimes metal has to be cut. If you have the resources, plasma cutters and pneumatics tools work great. For most of us that do not have these tools, a pair of metal snips (left and right cut) will do the job.

Take your time to plan your system and dont just buy brand and product for the sake of popularity. Sometimes the simplest system is the most effective.

Car Audio Subwoofer Basics

Typical car audio systems have small speakers with limited ability to reproduce low-frequency sounds. Car audio subwoofers can add more depth to a car audio system by reproducing frequencies below 150 hertz. A subwoofer can add strong and powerful basses to your car audio.

Most car audio subwoofers are installed in the trunk due to space limitations in the cabin of the car. Subwoofers are usually 10 inches or 12 inches in diameter although they can be as big as 34 inches and as small as 4 inches.

Wider subwoofers allow for more efficient air displacement which is critical for low frequencies.

The amplifier for car audio subwoofers can be integrated into the cabinet or installed as a separate unit. The amplifier should have an electronic crossover to filter out high-frequency sounds before the signal is passed to the subwoofer.

Although car audio subwoofers are usually round in shape, recently manufactures have been introducing subwoofers in new shapes. Square subwoofers have been released by Stillwater Designs and other companies have introduced triangular and hexagonal subwoofers. These innovative designs may be easier to install in cars with limited space, but there is no acoustical advantage to nonround shapes.

The type of enclosure for car audio subwoofers influences the kind of sound that is produced.

There are five basic types of subwoofer enclosures -

* sealed,

* ported,

* bandpass,

* passive radiator and

* transmission line systems.

For car use, the most practical type of enclosure is the sealed enclosure because it requires the minimum space and matches the audio requirements of a typical car interior.

There are many premade enclosures for car audio subwoofers on the market. Alternatively, you can have one custom-made or build one yourself. When you buy a subwoofer driver, you will usually receive a spec sheet which gives you guidelines for enclosure requirements. Also check out the spec sheets for power requirements and linear response - a flat response will give the truest sound.

Many people are tempted to crank up the sound when they have car audio subwoofers installed. Although it sounds great, take care - prolonged exposure to loud sounds can permanently affect your hearing.

Hummer H2 Interior and Audio Install

2006 Hummer H2

For this project we upgraded a 2006 Hummer H2, stock interior to a full custom leather interior, and installed a custom JL Audio sound system. Lets go over some of the install...

First we started with removing the interior. Main reason why we start with the interior is, this takes some time, we prefer to get a head start on this part of our project. It also helps at the end of the project, so we are not waiting on parts. Once the seats are out, we proceeded with stripping the old leather wraps to get to the seat heaters. At the same time we started making a template for the new leather. This interior we used high quality black leather for the seats and audio rack. We also went with a white stitching and custom embroidery on all the headrests and on the audio rack. Along the way we added LED interior lights for mood under the seats and in the amp rack. The finished interior consisted of the following: new leather seats, LED interior lighting, LED mood lighting under seats and on amp rack, Kenwood DNX 9960 headunit, 2 6" head rest monitors, one 10" monitor on amp rack, bass control on dash, and along with push to talk GPS. Each door received a JL Evolution C5 component speaker, and our tweeters were placed on the door pillars

Now that the interior has been removed we move to the custom audio box. Lets go over how we want our sub box and amp racks. The best place to start is with the subs, we are using 2 JL Audio 12"W7 subs enclosed in a sealed box, which needs 1.375 cubic feet per sub. The customer with this vehicle wanted more "punch" or "kick" to the bass, thus the sealed box. In this application we used 1.25" countertop MDF for the top and.75" MDF for the rest of the box. Once you have built your sub enclosure to the right dimensions, you can see what room you have left over for other equipment. After your sub box is in place you can start the amp rack mock up. Figure out how you want them to sit and look, then build a secure mounting platform. You should be extremely careful with the mounting of the sub bow and amp rack. If they are not secured properly they can cause serious injury if they come loose in a sudden stop or an accident. We always bolt our sub enclosures to the car to ensure safety. This is also a good time to add Dynomat or any other sound dampening materials needed. Now that you have built your sub box and amp display its time to pull and start wiring.

For this install we used 16 gauge wire for drivers, 18 gauge for tweeters, and 14 gauge from crossover to amplifier. Next is the Stinger 6 channel audio RCA's and 2 video cables. Powering the system we ran 0 gauge Stinger power wire and 4 gauge for the ground which will goes straight to the chassis at the amp rack. Finally we added a 250 amp inline fuse close to our Stinger audio battery.(Remember always place your fuse as close to the battery as possible in case your power line shorts out).

Now that we have a majority of our wire run we installed a Viper auto start and alarm. If you have never done this type on install it is recommended that you have done professionally. Please remember most cars will require additional electronic units for coded keys as well as radio replacement. Never assume you just can install a radio and be done. When it is not done properly it can cause many problems. Our H2 needed 5 devices installed so that the auto start and steering wheel controls would function correctly, as well as the Sirius radio and onboard CPU. Now that we are done with wiring and everything is hooked up, we run a complete test before reassembly. This is the time to program any extra devices that were installed. Once all devices are running properly, turn off the vehicle and restart it to complete set up.

Now that we have tested the system we can start putting the new leathers on the seats and reinstalling them in the car. After its all back together we can setup or tweak the system to its full capability, again remember this should be done professionally.

Your Car Stereo's System - 5 Tips to Professional Results

You have chosen your new car stereo and now it is time to install. The final result will depend on the quality of the installation. It won't matter how expensive your car stereos system is if you do not install it correctly. Your speaker sound will depend on the amplifier and the type of enclosure. Your amplifier will depend on the current, and the current will depend on the alternator and the wiring. Mistakes will leave you with disappointing results. Here are a few tips that will make the installation of your car stereos system a success:

The first thing you should do is determine the location of the speakers. Speaker location is the key to quality sound. The distance between the left and right speakers and the distance between the left and right ears is not always the same. Try to make the difference between the left and right speakers as little as possible. You may have better luck if you place the speakers on the floor, but you do run the risk of the sound seemingly coming from below. The location of your speakers is imperative to the sound quality you get from your car stereo. When installing your car stereos system, place the speakers temporarily in various locations to find the perfect sound before you install them permanently.

After you have determined the perfect location for your speakers, you must use Dynamat or other similar materials to stop vibration. This is to prevent the metal panels from becoming part of your sound system. How you connect your cables and the location of the cables is essential to achieving a top quality sound from your car stereos system. Some install huge amplifiers in an attempt to get the best sound from their speaker. The fact is you do not need to over do it on the amplifier; you simply need good quality cables to connect it.

Now you can begin the installation of the amplifiers and head unit. You can choose to use the factory wires or you may want to give the head unit a separate circuit. If your car stereo has excellent quality factory audio you should have no need for an additional circuit. Use good quality cables and do not cut costs on clamps and distribution blocks. This is the time to install filters as well.

Building a speaker enclosure is the next step. There is no set rule on which type of enclosure will work best with your car stereos system. You should determine which type of enclosure will give you the sound you desire. Different sizes and shapes of enclosures will produce different sounds. The best type of enclosure is an individual choice. You should experiment with various shapes and sizes until you find the sound quality you are looking for.

After your speakers are installed to your satisfaction, be sure to upholster your door panels with colors that match your car interior. Installing your car stereos system is a highly personal experience. Experiment with various locations and connections until you find the sound quality you are looking for.

What is Inside of a Limousine?

More and more different car models are used to build a limousine. In different countries you can find their locally built cars. Some of these vehicles look exotic , and all of them are stretched. Yes they are really stretched (at least more than twice). Not every turn at every road can this car overcome at first.

So, you probably already have questions. Then we have the answers. How do the passengers feel? What does the driver feels when driving around in this car? What do the owners of these vehicles feel?

We have just learned about this. And have not been able to hide this from you. Bucket of black caviar, golden toilet, a suitcase of dollars. Dimensionless limousines in the Association will look at a number of rare harmony. "Honey, I will send a limousine for you" does not it sound great?

However, a limo can boast its own very few people. it is not even a high price and usefulness of these vehicles. Which vehicle can be called a limo? Extended sedan - the limousine, car with a partition between driver and passengers again a limousine.

Even ordinary six windows sedan - also sometimes called the limousine! In fact, according to generally accepted classification, the limo should be understood as a passenger vehicle with four or six doors with a bulkhead to the front seat row.

Well, turns out, Chevrolet Suburban, which is depicted in our photos in various poses - not a limousine? Formally No. Nevertheless, any passerby noticed this car in the street will comment about the "limo"! Then the game becomes a concept - above a word "stretch". Make any car "stretch" - and you will get people's "limo."

The most expensive limousines, are usually made of high-class European automobile manufacturers themselves. A typical example - Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman. Such vehicles do not affect the appearance of the imagination, but quite capable stun with the price. And in the armored version of the price just kills to death: half a million dollars is not the limit. By the way, these cars give a ride to presidents of many countries. Other kinds of limousines are often used as a taxi or corporate purposes is based on not the most expensive cars and can have up to six doors. It is easy to meet these cars on the street now days, In Seattle, such cars sometimes occur: these may be a Chrysler, Lincoln, or a Mercedes-Benz.

And more... Stretch, super stretch, ultra stretch, ultra super stretch - the creators of these fantasy vehicles inexhaustible. Sometimes it seems that the limousine is not to perform any task, but only as a means of expression. 10 seats, 20 seats, 30 seats, TV, DVD-players, bar, restaurant, pool, a heliport, a golf course, Aquarium of the current model of the aircraft carrier in full size.Even if you do not think of what would have such a wish, in the limo it will be.

Of course, five axle stretch with a swimming pool instead of luggage - that's very exotic, demonstration of the company, a kind of Limo-concept. But the four wheels drive SUV in length more than fifteen meters, able to contain a football team, along with spare bench players - it is as you see the reality. Anyone can touch this limousine! And if you want or need, you can become king for a day - from $300 per hour and sometimes even cheaper.

The most Classic limousine, usually based on the Lincoln Town Car. The fundamental point here - the presence of frame: create a stretch of the car with the supporting body - the task much more troublesome and expensive. And it's simple: the body of serial machines is cut exactly the middle, and between the front and rear doors they need to insert the box with windows - the so-called insertion. The length of insert and defines a class of limousine. Town cars, as a rule, extend to 60-120 in. (1524-3048 mm) and can grow off, and 200 inches, while other times they are longer.

Production of limousines in the United States alone are perplexed about fifty firms. Of those that are well known - Tiffany Coachworks, Dream Coachworks, Crystal Enterprises and others. Together, they create wonderful things. For example, in the model number of a Dream six axle Lincoln Navigator, and Crystal could portray such a wonderful creature, a Hummer H2 with eight doors!

In principle, a standard fillings, which have American cars is enough to stretch: the engine and transmission remain intact. But suspension and braking systems can be enhanced - all the same total weight of the car becomes much heavier. Again, it is necessary to refine the system exhaust, causing it to conform with the new length of the vehicle.

Limousine is considered complete when performing even some procedures. Have you guessed? Right: in the list of electrical equipment is an additional generator and battery, a heating and air conditioning equipment is more productive - as required by a huge passenger compartment.

The interior space and decor - this is what built limousines. All - for the good of man! And no one - but for the whole company! Our GMC is designed for 14 persons, in full possession of which mirrored bar with illumination. At the bar - with crystal decanters, wine glasses for the champagne bucket. Immediately - aquarium with artificial fish: water bubbles and changing colors, animals rollicking and things that please the eye.

At the mirror ceiling shimmers stars - multicolored LEDs depict romantic sky. In the case of enclosures, located in the ends of the cabin, mounted LCD TVs, and two displays located at side racks. The signal to them is either a DVD-player, or VCR - these devices are located at the floor under the seats. Over the most VIP seats located control panel for all devices and next to it the remote control - head unit hi-fi audio system with two 12-inch Subwoofer.

You can arrange a party right in the car, highlighting the intimate semidarkness stroboscope flashes and filled the cabin space of artificial smoke and laser beams. And you can turn off all of the above at once, or to ask about the driver - the same panel is in the cabin. In the same cabin, though, there are a few things. For example, a walkie-talkie to communicate with the controller, or police and many other devices which are essential driver.

Is it difficult to drive a limo? According to limo driver's words, you can get used to everything. Of course, for stretch limos there are a lot of restrictions. Thus, for example, pre-crosses Route: Stretch Limos cannot make a sharp turn the first time. While it is generally we be able to drive everywhere in the city, in some places is not without problems. Surprisingly, the degrees of rotation - is not the most important characteristic of the street.

What is important is how wide the street is! However, for the professional there is a little or no problems with the maneuver. You can see how skillfully drivers at huge track drive back? by the mirror. In this sense, driving a limousine, even easier: do not exist at all desire.

Do limo drivers violate traffic rules? Only when this is due to extreme industrial necessity. The most common violation - it is right to exit into the oncoming traffic or turn in the wrong place. State Patrol, being enchanted by the greatness of the stretch and the highest professionalism, its driver, refer to some trespasses leniently.

All in all. Everybody respects the limousine. In an attempt to turn in the crowded traffic conditions (for a car length more than hundred feet, almost every turn in the city is fraught with well-known complications) stretch limo may block the street and make a big traffic, but few drivers will start convulsively honking at a slow giant. Who knows who or what may be inside of this car. May be people, who are going to a wedding. No reason to spoil their good mood.

But speed is respected everywhere. Even in rush - the company prohibits a driver to exceed a speed of 60 mph.

Actually, there are no any special problems with the operation of a limousine in the city. But there are interesting features. Take, for example, maintenance and repair. Almost every big limo companies have specially trained people who check technical condition of limo.

They also make some repairs. However, it is certainly not omnipotence: does a modern car require the professional service. Can you imagine how to lift a limousine? No, because there are no lifts, which could perch 200 inches of the limousine. In general, the problem is, but it can be solved. Only the savvy needed.

Car Audio Layaway Plan - Practical Thoughts

Building a car audio system is expensive especially if you plan to complete the set all at once, so it is best that you get a car audio layaway plan so you could choose the perfect amps and speakers without having to think of the cost. With the power of installment payments, you can put the right speakers, or get that matching subwoofer that will help you obtain that perfect and crisp music you've been wanting to have ever since you bought your set of wheels. A layaway plan can help you assess the right budget and the right tools you would need when you've decided that it's time that you give your car some loving that it should.

There are simply a lot of car audio systems that could meet your every needs and wants, with the many products that are released in the market today, your options are endless. Your imagination should let you create the perfect audio system that you would love dearly. There are many tweeters, subwoofers and ultra-bass systems that would fit in your car, it's just the question of  how big a capital are you willing to throw in your car so you could start building your dream system.

If you are serious about your car's entertainment system, then you're sure to buy equipments with good brands. This could cost you a lot of money, and it is a fact that you might not be able to afford everything at once.

When building car audio systems, you need to buy the goals or the speakers first, and then the subwoofer, the enclosures and finally, the amplifiers. Now all of these are not cheap even with generic brands. It is understandable that you would want to go a notch lower just to finalize your system.

With a layaway plan, you no longer have to settle for the second best. Buy everything one time and pay for it later. That's the good thing about layaway plans. So go on ahead and scour the internet for dealers that offer such plans, and often time you can find some dealers running auctions who extend layaway terms.  Once you find such a seller, look through their inventory for the best brands and get started building your car audio system.

Put it behind the seats, in the trunk, put it inside the hood, on your car ceiling, on the doors or to wherever your imagination would lead you. With the endless options you have available, possibilities are also endless. Think about the colours and the size of the speakers; the wiring systems that would need to be looped in holes, the power you'll be needing to boost up the energy you need for it. Also, remember that the speakers have the capability to damage your car so it's also important to really tighten the screws as the power of the bass should never be underestimated.

With a great car audio layaway plan, you will have an idea of the estimated cost of your audio system and get the perfect equipments reserved too. Now, you can get the best brands without worrying of the up-front costs. Some car owners can get lucky and they can already get the equipment after an initial down payment. Other shops also give the sale value of these sound systems. So go on ahead and get crazy, start scouring the web for car audio system advise from the experts.

Kicker Solo Classic 09S8C2 8-Inch 2-Ohm Subwoofer Overview

Solo Classic takes a page straight outta KICKER legend, and ushers it into the future…“All the bass. Half the space.” That’s how we billed it nearly 20 years ago when the Solo-Baric Subwoofer ruled the roadways. The concept was breakthrough a subwoofer that actually worked as two woofers in an isobaric enclosure, therefore using a box nearly half the size of those for conventional woofers. Genuine, deep, loud… it was the real deal, without sacrificing storage space. In 2009, the Solo Classic Subwoofer provides the deepest, most musical bass from the smallest areas, at the same time promoting valuable storage space in a vehicle. It is designed to be used solely with small, sealed enclosures and generates the most pressure allowable.

Active Subwoofers - Nice and Simple

Active subwoofers have long been seen as the simplest solution when it comes to adding that extra punch to any sound system. Buying an active enclosure eliminates the need to start matching subwoofers with amps, designing the box to suit the subwoofer and connecting them up in a tidy fashion. To the audio novice this can become a very complex and difficult process, which is why active enclosures are so good when building your first system.

The value for money on the active kits is extremely good. The subwoofer is primed to perform to its fullest straight from the box, companies put millions into the development of the right enclosure and this really shows. Product lines such as the Fusion Encounter series and the Vibe Black Air series are both excellent examples of what can be achieved with an active enclosure; this is probably why they are the market leaders.

In this market you get what you pay for and from my experience go for the better quality items. The slim fitting units that slot under seats really can't cut it for volume and SQ against the full size enclosures. These are the more expensive units and for the best quality you are going to be looking between £150 - 200, this still works out cheaper than building a custom system.

The active enclosures are excellent quality kits, yes you can build a better system by going custom, but you will pay a lot more in order to achieve this. For value/performance there really is no better option out there.

In Wall Speaker Systems

In-wall speaker systems are an effective method to enjoy outstanding music while keeping the speakers hidden. Also known as in-ceiling speaker and recessed ceiling speaker, an in-wall speaker system is most ideal in a home theater environment. Open back, semi-sealed, and sealed systems are among the different types of in-wall speaker systems.

In-wall speaker systems have many advantages over a conventional speaker system. The main advantages of in-wall speaker systems are that they don't occupy any floor space and are easy to hide. Further, it can be installed across any flat surface including ceilings and floors. Cost effectiveness, custom installation, compatibility, flexibility, increased power handling and easy installation are the other advantages. In-wall speaker systems are most suitable for multi-room audio systems. Usually, two styles of in-wall speaker systems are available in the market, one intended for home theater and the other for whole-house audio.

An in-wall speaker system functions in the same way as a regular one. But, the only difference is that, instead of installing within a cabinet, it is generally mounted in the ceiling. In-wall speaker systems use wall cavity as enclosure, and come attached with a grill and frame that can be painted according to the color of the ceiling or floor. A guide or manual demonstrating the step by step installation are available at the time of purchase of in-wall speaker systems, which makes the installation process quite easy.

In-wall speaker wires or cables and subwoofers are important for the proper functioning of in-wall speaker systems. In-wall speaker wires are available in both 14 and 16 gauges, and specially certified wires known as UL Class 3 rated cables are used for the better performance of in-wall speakers.

However, in-wall speaker systems have certain disadvantages. Since an in-wall speaker system is fixed in a particular area of the room, it is difficult to make further modifications. Diffraction loss also affects the performance of in-wall speakers. Another disadvantage is that the labor costs of in-wall speaker wiring are high.

Bass Up Your BMW with a Fiberglass Speaker Box

Let's face it; if you're driving a BMW 3 series, BMW 7 series, or any kind of BMW at all, then you're driving one of the finest automobiles on the market. The ride is smooth, the acceleration quick, and overall it's a comfortable top of the line car. Even the stock sound system that comes with a BWM is pretty nice. Unfortunately, the system does not come with one of the most vital parts of good sound, which is a sub woofer. Sub woofers are meant to give depth and complete the spectrum of sound in a stereo. The BMW product line has a wide variety of sub woofers, car amplifiers, and custom speaker boxes to choose from for your car.

Custom speaker boxes are specifically designed to fit your model of BMW. Therefore, you'll be able to install your car amplifier and sub woofer without taking up too much space, and without tearing up your interior. Instead, custom speaker boxes will blend with the interior of your BMW so that it looks like part of the original car. When choosing a fiberglass speaker box for your new system you'll not only be getting the highest quality material producing the best sound possible, but you'll get a light weight box that won't add pounds on to your BMW. Custom speaker boxes work by preventing the out of phase waves from the rear from mixing with the in phase waves of the front. Therefore, when installed properly there is no resonance and a crystal clear sound can be heard from all spectrums.

The BMW speaker box product line includes a top of the line Bassforms fiberglass speaker box for the BMW 3 series, BMW 5 series, BMW 6 series, and BMW 7 series. Look for an expert staff that will assist you in choosing the right car amplifier, sub woofer, and fiberglass speaker box for your type of vehicle. Complete the sound system in your BMW and fully enjoy your beautiful ride.

Stereo System Upgrades For Cars and Trucks

Most people want to personalize their ride with stereo upgrades and the latest bling items. In this article we will discuss the latest options for upgrading your vehicle's sound system. The first thing to start off with is deciding where to put all the components. Many people will want the CD changer out of view. Simple sheet metal brackets can be made to mount it inside a console below the surface to where the console lid clears the unit and goes undetected from any one's view. The head unit with AM FM tuner can be installed behind the glove box lid using 20 gauge metal and bent to hold the unit which is standard size with a built in bracket system. To hide a sub woofer there are many places.

A good location is behind the rear seat up against the package tray where there is ample room to upgrade to a much larger speaker. A paper board mockup will allow you to know how big of an enclosure to purchase at your local supplier. Be sure the minimum air space required was met while holding it all in place. All major speakers MFG list their minimum air space requirements for any given speaker. You may have to modify the back of the rear seat a bit to allow the sub clearance and removing a wire or two will not make much difference in supporting your back. Another place is where you rest your feet in the front seat. The kick panels are an excellent place for the front speakers. You can angle them to still allow good foot room while the sound waves hit the opposite side passenger directly for optimum sound. When installing sound systems we always look for what the vehicle will offer for locations that allow different alternatives such as places to hide speakers and different sound box sizes depending on ones desires.

If you're looking for first row, front seat sound then a mid range front floor speaker where the floor is cut out to house 8 inch Dyn-Audio mid range speakers is the ticket. Pointing them directly at the front seat passenger's ear for max sound is the only way because they are directional speakers. Right under the dash is a great place to install Image Dynamic Horn speakers for highs/tweeters that offer super crisp vocals and the lead guitars will come to life. In effect it will sound like an entire band is sitting on the hood of the car with unreal clarity and 0 distortion detected by any humans ear. When building hi-level systems such as this high power is needed so the front speakers would be powered by a JL 450/4v2 amp for max output with 1 gauge power leads and crossovers with separate equalization installed. For subwoofers you need a lot of power such as 2-1000 watt JL amps to provide power for a qty of 6 -10 inch W6 JL drivers in the trunk. Image Dynamics EQ will allow complete adjusting to the system.

Installing an EPICENTER by Audio Control is a nice component that allows you to bring out more bass in older music then it originally had. It features A Dial Rotation. Your fuse block needs to be upgraded when you go this route to massive 1-0 wires and relays to keep everything powered up safely. Hiding wiring where carpet can cover over them and away from heat sources like exhaust systems is very important and a door step plate channel is an excellent way to run the wires front to back. We like Optima batteries to power everything as they are gel and have no acid residue. Yellow Red and or Blue top are built for marine use for extra reserve capacity. Keep in mind that you may have to upgrade the amps in your alternator and these are available at most auto parts stores. XM satellite radio is another nice touch. On projects where other components are taking up space you have to improvise.

To build a custom Sub Box take MDF Wood and cut out 6 MDF rings on a router to accept JL W6 speakers. Then mount/glue them in the right matching angles and you are then ready to start covering them. We take fleece and cover them tight using a staple gun then they are wrapped and ready for some fiberglass resin work. Mix up and coat them with resin saturating all materials to get a strong first layer to support thicker matting later.

You can then use a porter cable tool and buzz out the speaker sections. The next step is to tape it off to get ready for the outer cover. Wrap it much in the same way but use polyester cloth and tape the edges around the cars trunk perimeter. Then trim it out much in the same way and also cut out a shaped hole in the back section to allow the sound to come toward the front of the car, The trunk hinges get a U pad treatment that stays with the hinge and fits with a small gap when up, just behind it you can add a trim piece to finish it out.You will then want to sand it down and apply some hi build primer and you are almost done. Simply mount the speakers with T-nuts that have teeth which pull in to the MDF wood when tightened.

Parenting - Learn How to Teach Your Kids Discipline and Respect For You

One of the most difficult things that you will eventually have to do as a parent is argue with your child.

Often times any arguments with your children will become irrational, simply because they strive to take the arguments in that direction. Children are so much more persistent than adults when it comes to arguments. Often it seems like it would just be a heck of a lot easier to say "Yes" than to say "No" even when you know which one you ought to say.

However, this is not the solution. Instead, try the following techniques to teach your child both to respect you and your wishes as a parent, and to be more disciplined. In addition, he will learn the rational way to argue, and how to listen.

One more thing, remember that you're a model for your child. If you argue with your child and become irrational, or loud, or mean, then they're going to pick up on those exact same habits. So make sure that you're extra careful with what you say and how you say it.

Here are a few things that you should make sure that you do to set a good example for your child, while still conveying your own point:

#1 - Make sure that you make eye contact frequently while speaking with your child. This lets your child know that you see them as an equal, and it instills a sense of honesty into everything that you say, which will make your child much more likely to listen to you.

This keeps your child from feeling like you think yourself superior...Remember when you were a kid? Did it ever bother you that you thought your parents thought they were better than you? Well, your child feels the same way. By maintaining eye contact you help to diminish that feeling.

#2 - Make sure that you actually do pay attention to the things that your child is saying. Don't be doing something else while talking to them. I know that it can be sort of a hassle to always set down what you're doing when you and your child start to head towards an argument, but you want to make sure and teach your child how to listen, and the best way to do this is through example.

So, have a seat with your kids, talk with them, and make sure that you actually are paying attention to them.

#3 - Ask questions about what your child is saying. Often times children can say things that sound either irrational or that don't quite make sense the way that they said them. By asking questions to your child you're doing two things.

First, you're helping move the argument along, by asking your kid to further explain what they're saying, more often than not they will either see the holes in their own argument, or they will see where you might be coming from. The earlier your child learns this skill, the better.

Secondly, again, you're setting a good example. Asking questions is an essential listening skill, and one that they will need to be able to use for the rest of their lives.

Try putting these 3 tips into effect the next time you and your child start to get into a little verbal scuffle. You will begin to pave the way towards a better understanding, for them and for yourself, of how these arguments should really work.

Good luck parenting!

Intoduction to the Car Subwoofer

A subwoofer is the part of the audio speaker system in a home or auto system that reproduces the bass frequencies. Small speakers which are typically part of a small system will usually reproduce frequencies as low as 40 HZ particularly when the decibels rise above 100. A cone subwoofer will reproduce the bass tones from about 20 HZ down to 200 HZ, the point where the sound is as much vibration as tone.

The first known occurrence in a recording was the use of the subwoofer in "Pretzel" the Steely Dan album released after 1970 when the speakers were invented. The sound is actually produced by the drivers, which can range from 8" up to as large as 34". Typically drivers found in movie theaters, concerts, radio stations and live records in the 15 to 18 inch range. Part of the excitement of a live concert is the intense vibrations which emit from the enormous subwoofers.

A auto stereo system which comes from the factory usually does not include car audio subwoofers, aficionados of the hottest systems find they need to add aftermarket car stereo subwoofers.

INSTALLING CAR AUDIO SUBWOOFERS

It is common for subwoofers to be installed in the trunk of the car, since better sound quality is gained by separating the car subwoofers from the balance of the stereo system. The process for installing car stereo subwoofers is somewhat complicated, so it is recommended that you buy the subwoofer enclosures prefab. The first step is to remove the carpet or flooring material from the trunk and thoroughly clean the area. Apply sound deadening material such as Dynamat or Accumat to glue coated and cleaned metal of the trunk floor. Once the sound deadening material is in place, a roller will help to bond the two surfaces together, then replace the carpeting. Now it's time to place the subwoofer enclosure itself. Following the instructions for the amplifier, wire the car subwoofers into the two rear audio rear speakers.

It's wise to play around with the positioning of the subwoofer box before permanent installation is made to determine where the best sound results occur. The subwoofer boxes can face the front or rear of the automobile with different sounding results. Once you have made the decision as to where the subwoofer enclosure will be place, drill and mount the brackets in the correct place to hold the subwoofer box firmly in place.

HEARING LOSS

Some car audio subwoofers seem to be in competition to produce sound pressure levels that are dangerous to one's hearing, especially in the confines of the automobile. These cars with their sound pressure levels in the red-line area of permanent hearing loss are not able to produce good sound quality, but the quality is less important than sound pressure.

To enhance the vibratory effect of the stereo system, a new devices called subwoofer boxes which transmit vibrations when attached to furniture. These subwoofer enclosures provide the feel of the big subwoofers without attendant hearing loss.

Plus, you can externally bridge 2 amps together, increasing power and still keeping things simple to operate. Externally Bridgeable The units are externally bridgeable and permit two separate amplifiers to be joined together as one, doubling the power to a single woofer or voice coil. That's over 2400 Watts RMS (4800 peak!) with the PRS-D1200SPL, ideal for use in serious SPL competition vehicles. Best of all, no special cable is required - a simple RCA cable and proper setting of the Sync mode will get this. High Power and Efficient Car Subwoofer

Car owners and manufactures often add the car subwoofers with the car audio system to enhance their performance and to take them to a new level or sound excellence. In fact the subwoofers are complete loudspeakers that are dedicated to reproducing bass audio frequencies. The frequencies range from 150Hz to as low as 20Hz depending on the taste and requirements of the user. They are called subwoofers since they are used for augmenting the low frequency performances of any of the main speakers.

A unique feature of the subwoofers is that they are constructed by mounting woofers one on another and enclosing them inside well-braced cover that is either made of plastic or wood. They are available in multiple designs and are widely used to enhance the performance of the car stereos of any type. Main designs are bass reflex, horn-loaded, band pass, and infinite battle types. Of course each of the types has its own pros and cons to deal with.

Broadly the subwoofers can be classified into two types. One of them is the passive subwoofers and the other is active subwoofer. Passive subwoofers consist of the subwoofer driver. The enclosures will be powered by an external amplifier. On the other hand the active subwoofers have an inbuilt amplifier in the subwoofer. Way back in the 1960s the first subwoofer was developed for providing the addition of bass response to the home stereo systems.

Sensurruound was added during the 1970s. Compact discs and cassettes added further technological excellence to the subwoofers during the 1980s. DVDs arrived in the 1990s and with them came up the LFE or low frequency channels. That was the time when the subwoofers started gaining popularity for home videos and car stereos. It turned out to be the universally accepted sound reinforcement system by the time the new millennium arrived on the scene.

Numerous qualitative subwoofers that are used for the car audio and stereos are available in the market today. Recently the Infinity Systems, one of the units of Harman International Industries announced their new line of subwoofers. Many other leading brands and companies are following suit. Advantage of the modern day improved subwoofers is the industrial designs and the value price added to them. Today the subwoofers use large-roll surrounds, polypropylene cones as well as progressive spiders in them. In result they have gained optimal control of the sound system and made the bash sound effects free from distortions and also prevents sound from breaking down while delivered. The progressive spider applies increased force with the cone travel approaching its limits. In result the subwoofer gains much greater durability. Large roll surroundings help the cone edge maximum suspension eliminating any rattling that travels up the edge. Polypropylene cone is stiff despite being lightweight and thus provides an excellent balance of efficiency with power handling.
